A teen girl disappears from her small town deep in the bayou, where magic festers beneath the surface of the swamp like water rot,

I liked it, but I wanted to love it. Which sadly I didn’t. The synopsis was banger. New orleans?! psychics?! Missing girl?! hell yeah!

From the beginning it seemed so magical and intriguing, but then it kind of got weird and uncomfortable.

It took me a while to get really into the story and there was something happening I couldn’t stand and had to put it down for a bit.  Halfway through the book things got interesting again.

It was very well written and that’s the part that hooked me again and couldn’t stop reading from that point forward and because that ending was… something.

I saw somewhere that this was the author’s debut novel and honestly I couldn’t believe it. Besides me not completely enjoying it, it was very well written.

The author wrote in such a vivid way. The description of the town made me feel like I was really there.

This won’t be one of those books that I will read again. So I’m giving this book 3,5 stars. It was a good book but maybe after reading the synopsis again. I expected more I guess?
