This was supposed to be the best day of their lives. A new house, beautiful as they ever could have imagined.

With a brown brick frame, squared windows and an adorable little red door. The day they closed the deal, the real estate agent seemed a little too happy to be getting rid of the place. Neither of them wondered why, because for them, it was a start of something new, it just felt so right.

As the evening light welcomed the night sky with a lingering kiss, the twilight sky, greeting each other as the moment passed by.

It was the night they went out to celebrate and as they joyfully chatted as they walked back to their new house, went inside and  grabbed another drink from the fridge as they passed the kitchen but soon stopped when they thought they saw something amiss.

Was that a shadow figure?

A strange  feeling ran through their spines, or was it just their imagination? Since they both had just a few too much to drink?

A few moments pass and both lift their shoulders in a shrug, ignoring the eari feeling that definitely  consumed their lungs.

They closed the blinds and sat in the pitch dark of night , watching a true crime documentary about how multiple people died.

Halfway in the show they both see something moving from the corner of their eyes.

It could just be their imagination yet still it was just outside the window, behind their closed blinds.

He got up, and checked if there was anything to see, and she turned on the lights, hoping that in the process it would ease their growing fears.

When neither of them saw anything wrong, they turned off the light and closed the blinds once more and continued on.

Not long after, they both passed out in front of the tv, the documentary they were watching paused on a terrible scene.

The scene in question had people lying dead in their living room, nothing but blood could be seen, one might even have lost his limbs but that could be something else on the tv screen…

The strange thing that occured to one of them upon their waking and seeing the screen. It all seemed too familiar, but she could just be imagining things. She turned the lights on, a shiver ran down her spine, it felt like someone was watching them but then again it could all be in her mind. A nasty chill ran through the house, that is why she must have shivered she thought and sat back down…

As her partner stirred in his sleep, she turned off the tv and went into a comfortable position and tried to fall back asleep.

A knocking sound both startled them from their slumber; they both jumped up and began to wonder.

Is this house haunted? Or is someone messing with them for fun? Now they knew it wasn’t their imagination, something was really going on.

It was nothing close to Devil’s night so that couldn’t be. She decided to check all the windows and doors again , but none of the windows had anyone in  sight. As soon as she walked away from the last window she had checked, the knocking sound occurred again without a warning and she started to scream.

The knocking seemed to come from somewhere inside but there they were a hundred percent sure there was no one in the house besides the two of them.

He walked to her, consoled her from her fright, and promised they could check the house together if she likes.

After a short consideration, she decided that it is best to go together, “because seperating is how people always die in the movies,” she thought.

They walked around the massive house , checking every room as they passed. They found no other soul was in sight, so was it just being in the new house kinda fright?

Just to be sure, they grab their bedding from the room and decide to camp out on the couch tonight. An eerie thought crept inside her head, something was too familiar but she couldn’t figure it out.

Upon returning to the room, something in it had changed.

He didn’t seem to notice anything and started to rearrange, quickly sat down and watched as she stayed.

“Come sit down,” he politely asked, “let’s continue sleeping. It’s all in our heads.”

Without another word, she complied and sat back down. She refused to sleep but her head pulled her down.

With a start she woke up again, the tv turned back on, that scene on it once again. She realized why it was so familiar and she pushed against her partner’s arm. She barely registered inside her mind when he collapsed in front of her, a limb lying a few feet away. With a trembling hand she covered her mouth, she glanced down because she noticed they were wet.

As she got up, she realized what it really was.

A  scream started to build, but by then it was already too late.

The TV was still stuck on the picture that showed them their fate.

The end.
